Broadcasters Partner to Develop DAB in Czech Republic
Prague - Apr 4, 2013 - Ceske Radiokomunikace, Cesky rozhlas, Gama Media, Lagardere Active, Londa, Radio Proglas, RTI, SeeJay Radio and Teleko have formed a professional organization to help create an efficient approach for the development of digital radio broadcasting in the Czech Republic.
Development aspects include the availability of spectrum in Band III, a firm commitment to the DAB radio system in legislation, increasing the penetration of household and car digital radio receivers, and media coverage of digital radio broadcasting.
Terrestrial DAB radio signals cover about half the population of the Czech Republic; listeners can already receive up to 17 digital radio stations. The programs offered and the coverage will continue to expand. L-band is used for DAB broadcasting in the Czech Republic, which has significantly lower coverage performance when compared with frequencies in Band III. This band is vacant following the analog TV switch-off.
