AWRT Creates Two New Student Chapters
McLean, VA - Oct 23, 2009 - American Women in Radio and Television (AWRT) has authorized two new student chapters, the AWRT Georgia State University Chapter and AWRT Penn State University Chapter. The newest student-led chapters are located in Atlanta, GA and State College, PA.
Established in 1913, Georgia State University serves more than 30,000 students from its location in downtown Atlanta. Georgia State offers more than 250 areas of study including media studies, film and video production, journalism and communications. The university's Digital Arts and Entertainment Laboratory (DAEL) offers state-of-the-art equipment for digital media research and production. The university's Department of Communications is nationally ranked as one of the top ten programs for minority journalism majors.
Founded in 1855, Penn State University is one of the ten largest public universities in the US and is ranked in the top 15 nationally for public universities. It has more than 44,000 undergraduate and graduate students who choose from the 160 majors offered including communications, journalism, media studies and telecommunications. The university has an award-winning student-run radio station, The Lion 90.7 FM. In addition, the Penn State College of Communications operates Comradio, an Internet-based audio laboratory and co-curricular training environment for aspiring student broadcasters.
