NAB Call for Papers for 63rd Broadcast Engineering Conference
Washington - Aug 25, 2008 - The NAB Show will host the 63rd NAB Broadcast Engineering Conference on April 18 - 23 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas. The conference addresses the most recent developments in broadcast technology and focuses on the opportunities and challenges that face broadcast engineering professionals. The NAB Broadcast Engineering Conference is a highly technical conference where presenters deliver technical papers covering a variety of topics relevant to the broadcast and allied industries. Presentations are typically limited to 30 minutes, including five or ten minutes for questions from the audience.
The NAB seeks proposals for technical papers at the conference. Proposals should be clearly written and be no more than 250 words in length. The proposal should explain precisely what conference attendees can expect to learn from the paper. Papers promoting company products or services will not be accepted. However, papers explaining the underlying technologies used in broadcast products or services will be acceptable.
The deadline for submitting proposals is Oct. 17, 2008. Authors of accepted papers will be notified Nov. 14, 2008. Once notified of acceptance, authors have Jan. 16, 2009, to submit a completed paper to the NAB. The paper will be published in the NAB Broadcast Engineering Conference Proceedings.
To submit a technical paper proposal, use the online submission form. Questions regarding the NAB Broadcast Engineering Conference can be directed to John Marino, VP science and technology, at 202-429-5346.
Modeled after the Vorsis AP1000 31-band audio processor, the FM2000 includes all of the features of the AP2000 except the digital processing chain with its own dedicated digital output. This product targets customers who seek the performance specifications of the AP2000 but do not require the digital processing chain.
Staco Energy Products Unistar P
This single-phase online uninterruptible power supply features protection over a wide input voltage range. This true double-conversion UPS is available in 6, 8 and 10kVac models, to protect from outages and irregularities in incoming line voltages from 160 to 280Vac at 45-65Hz. Up to four Unistar P modules can be installed in parallel for redundancy or additional capacity. A constant, clean, steady sine wave protects downstream equipment even without going to battery mode. Each Unistar P features high-overload handling, without transfer to the bypass, and protection against short circuit and over-temperature conditions.
Nautel Exporter Plus
HD Radio embedded Exporter
Exporter Plus, a next-generation IBOC exporter for encoding HD Radio signals replaces PC-based exporters that have been used in exgine-based HD Radio systems for about three years. The new product is firmware-based, which boots more quickly. Nautel’s Exporter Plus is a single rack unit box with a front panel LCD display. Intelligent buttons allow the user to easily program the device without the need for a keyboard, mouse and monitor. A front headphone jack is supplied for monitoring of the audio being processed. Connections are provided on the unit for digital and analog I/O, monitor, USB, RJ45 connections and remote I/O. A front panel analog audio bypass switch is also provided. Firmware updates may be done online or by plugging in a USB stick. A GPS receiver for synchronization is built-in and the system tolerates AC failures so an external UPS is not required.
