Media professionals to recruit job seekers during NAB Show Career Day
Washington, DC - the NAB education foundation, in partnership with the broadcast education association (BEA) and radio-television news directors association (RTNDA), will host their annual Career Day at the Las Vegas Hilton on Wednesday, April 22 during the 2009 NAB Show. Sponsored by Edge Technology Services, Career Day will allow students and entry-level job seekers to meet with media industry professionals.

"Career Day typically attracts over 1,500 attendees, and has expanded to include a 'Career Services' component that is particularly relevant given today's challenging job market," said NABEF President Marcellus Alexander. "Our goal is to provide as many people as possible with the opportunity to network with broadcasting professionals and learn the tools necessary for career advancement."

The Career Services Center will provide resume critiquing and one-on-one career coaching sessions to help prepare prospective employees for career advancement. Career Day will also feature several informative sessions, including utilizing social networking tools in your job search, getting back in the job search game and standing out in a competitive market, that will provide job seekers with in-depth information and comprehensive tools to enhance their broadcasting careers.

Designed for experienced professionals, college students and entry-level job seekers, Career Day will include professionals from a variety of broadcast and media companies, including CBS News, Edge Communications, Hubbard Broadcasting, Inc., LIN Television, McGraw-Hill Broadcasting, Oregon Association of Broadcasters, The Star Radio Group - WFLS/WWUZ/WWVB and Turner Broadcasting System, Inc./CNN. Recruiters will be on hand to answer questions from anyone interested in job opportunities and internships within the media industry. Barix Presents Audio over IP Workshops
Zurich, Switzerland - Barix has scheduled a series of hands-on workshops to immediate follow the upcoming NAB, Infocomm and IBC conventions. The workshops will educate attendees on the topic of Audio over IP, Barix products, applications, and an overview of the Barix Control Language used for custom Barix applications.

Barix held two workshops alongside Infocomm Asia and the Digital Signage Expo conventions in Hong Kong and Las Vegas, and included hands-on demonstrations of how the products are used in real-world applications. The next three workshops will be held on the following dates with locations to be announced:

The NAB and IBC demonstrations will mainly emphasize broadcast and pro audio applications for the Instreamer encoding, Exstreamer decoding and Annuncicom intercom product lines, with limited discussion of how the Barionet control and automation products can be applied to these applications. The Infocomm workshop with be more general, focusing on the use of all Barix IP audio and control products in pro audio, security, education, worship and other markets.

Housed in a 2RU enclosure, this professional CD player plays and records standard CD-R and CD-RW discs. It can also play MP3 files. Other features include Marantz Minute Track with Adjustable Time - or Level-dependent Auto Track Increment, auto-cue, auto fade-in and out with programmable time and sync (level dependent) recording. It includes an internal sample rate Converter (32 - 48kHz) and analog and coaxial/optical (S/PDIF) digital inputs and outputs.

The Trinity's features include three Independent Audio Generators up to 384kHz, with Varispeed Control; three Independent SD Generators, simultaneously offering PAL and NTSC; three Independent HD Generators, presenting a choice of 16 formats, and Antelope's fourth Generation of Acoustically Focused Clocking (AFC) which now employs 64-bit DSP. Also, a triple display shows the frequencies for the Independent Audio Generators. Trinity maintains all of the features from Antelope's current OCX-V Audio/Video Master Clock, such as Jitter Management Module, Black burst generator, and full audio and video Gearboxing with simultaneous 0.1 and 4 percent pull-ups/pull-downs.

Broadcast Tools SS 4.4
Active stereo matrix switcher

The SS 4.4 provides matrix audio switching of four stereo inputs to four stereo outputs. Matrix switching allows any or all inputs to be assigned to any or all outputs. The SS 4.4 may be controlled via front panel switches, contact closures and/or the multi-drop RS-232 serial port. Additional features include stereo silence sensor with relay, front-panel stereo LED VU meters, stereo headphone jack with level control, powered monitor level control all with output selection switching, 16 GPIs, four GPO- open collectors and four SPST relays. Installation is simplified with pluggable Euroblock screw terminals. The SS 4.4 is supplied in a 1RU chassis.

Beyerdynamic DT 790 and DT 797

The basis of these new headsets is the classic closed reference studio headphone DT 770 PRO with the addition of a pivoting gooseneck microphone boom, and one of two first-class microphone capsules. Both models have been built to thrive in highly noisy environments, delivering top notch audio quality and speech intelligibility. The DT 790, with dynamic microphone (hypercardioid), is specially designed with camera men and sound engineers in mind, while the DT 797, with condenser microphone (cardioid), has been developed for use by commentators in live broadcasting situations (i.e. live sporting events). The powerful headphone-systems feature a frequency response of 5Hz to 30kHz, providing an exceptionally balanced sound characteristic. The sound insulating housing and soft-skin ear pads provide superb isolation from ambient noise and the new pivoting goose neck microphone boom makes sure the dynamic microphone can always be optimally adjusted into any required position. The microphone boom can be used at left or right side or can be moved into standby (upper) position. The single-sided cable will be available with a wide variety connectors to accommodate any application.
