France's SIRT Asks state for DAB Expansion Assistance
Paris - Nov 2, 2011 - Independent radio stations selected for digital radio broadcasting in Paris, Marseille and Nice, with support from the Inter-professional Union of independent radio and television (SIRT), have asked the Higher Audiovisual Council (CSA) for the creation of a state aid fund for the digital switchover. GIP France Digital TV, which was responsible for the conversion of analog to digital television, will return to the state a portion of the budget allocated for the deployment of DTT, which has been announced at 153 million Euros. With this knowledge, SIRT is requesting payment assistance for digital radio DAB from the "unexpected budget resource." According to SIRT this fund will be used to "build the network of digital radio in France and to facilitate the audit team."
