DRM+ Tests in India Called a Success
New Delhi - May 27, 2011 - DRM+ tests in New Delhi, carried out jointly by All India Radio and the Digital Mondiale Consortium, were completed successfully this week. A single test frequency (100.1 MHz) was used to carry three program channels: Gold DRM, Rainbow DRM and AIR news. A Nautel VS1 (with 300W TPO) was used along with an RF Mondial DRM+ modulator, and Fraunhofer DRM content server.
Two test modes were used: Robust 4-QAM and high-capacity 16-QAM. Reception of the test transmission was found to be comparable with analog transmission of five times more power.
Ruxandra Obreja, chair of the DRM Consortium said, "This test was a successful culmination of a close partnership of DRM Consortium and All India Radio and the whole hearted support of the DRM members who took part in this event. AIR has already adopted DRM30 for its SW/MW network and DRM+ will play a complementary role operating in VHF band."
