APT Welcomes International Distributors to Belfast
Belfast - Mar 19, 2008 - Last week, APT welcomed more than 30 of the company's international distributors to its Belfast headquarters for a four-day international distributor forum. Originally spun-out of the small business arm of Queen's University, APT has grown to be one of Northern Ireland's flagship export companies with more than 90 percent of its sales outside the UK. APT CEO Noel McKenna said, "Our network of distributors adds a very real value to our business and we have a legacy of developing long-term relationships with our distributors."
The company welcomed almost 30 representatives from more than 20 countries to the forum , which was held to expand the distributors' technical knowledge of APT's key products and to update them on new APT products, technologies and business strategies. The event also included a two-day conference featuring a full seminar and workshop program. It also provided opportunities for APT's distributors to network and exchange ideas and strategies for the future.
The distributor forum culminated in a gala-dinner held in the Council Chamber at Queens University on Friday evening where APT distributors, staff and distinguished guests enjoyed a champagne and Guinness reception, sampled local delights including smoked salmon, oysters and wheaten bread, and were treated to entertainment from local Irish dancers and musicians.

Tieline Launches QOS Performance Engine for Remotes via IP
Indianapolis - Mar 20, 2008 - At the 2008 NAB Show, Tieline Technology will demonstrate its new QOS Performance Engine Technology over IP for its G3 range of audio codecs, which provides greater connection stability, with less delay, for live remote broadcasts over IP networks.
The Internet and 3G wireless networks are lossy, packet-switched networks in which a percentage of data packets sent never arrive. Tieline notes that between one and three percent of packets are lost at different times over open Internet IP connections. This figure likely increases to between three and 10 percent of packets via 3G networks.
In a remote broadcast situation, broadcasters are unable to buy QOS (quality of service) for wireless 3G networks, and it is often impractical to buy QOS for a single remote broadcast for the Internet. The QOS Performance Engine Technology is Tieline's answer to this. The technology manages the IP connection and adjusts settings in the codec to allow for varying packet arrival times and provide forward error correction (FEC) analysis.
