CSRIC Approves Part 11 CAP Changes
Washington, DC - Oct 7, 2010 - At its meeting on Oct. 7, 2010, the Communications, Security, Reliability and Interoperability Council (CSRIC) reviewed and approved it recommendations for changes to FCC Part 11 rules concerning EAS and CAP.
CSRIC Working Group 5A, which deals with CAP, has submitted specific recommendations on rule changes, provided general comment and analysis regarding the Part 11 regulatory structure, and has suggested actions the FCC can take to improve EAS access for people with disabilities and non-English speaking communities. In all, there are 33 technical recommendations, including proposed language to be included in a rulemaking. Comments of note:

The report was approved unanimously.
Industry groups, including the NAB, SBE and NASBA, are expected to file comments with the FCC on the 180-day clock and to request updates to Part 11 before CAP is mandated in EAS plans.
