CSA France Authorizes DAB in Lyon
Lyon, France - Apr 21, 2011 - The French telecommunications authority Conseil Supérieur de l'Audiovisuel (CSA) has approved a nine-month demonstration of DAB transmission for the Lyon area of France, starting in May of this year. The project is known as DRB Lyon.
There will be 16 radio stations broadcasting via two multiplex transmission systems that cover about 75 percent of the greater Lyon area. Those stations include Africa n°1, Capsao, FG DJ Radio, France Maghreb 2, Impact FM, Latina FM, MFM Radio, Nova, Yes FM, Radio Middle East, Radio Scoop, Radio Vinci Highway South, RCF, Sol FM, Radio South and TSF Jazz.
The multiplex transmission system is being provided by VDL, which not only operates the system, but also provides equipment used for the digital transmission of both radio and TV.
Pure Digital is one of the suppliers of digital receivers that are available for use during Project DRB Lyon. "This project will promote new stations, it will show the number of digital receivers that are available, and it will give the French people the desire to discover digital radio. Hopefully this demonstration will be a model for other cities in France," said Colin Crawford, the head of marketing for Pure Digital.
