All India Radio to Commission 1MW DRM Transmitter
Delhi, India - Jul 12, 2012 - All India Radio is about to commission a new 1MW transmitter supplied by France-based Thomson. The transmitter is capable of broadcasting in analog, simulcast and DRM modes. Initially, the programs will be broadcast in simulcast mode. The normal programs will be broadcast in analog while the popular Vividh Bharati Service of All India Radio will be digitally broadcast in DRM mode.
With the commissioning of this transmitter, there will be significant improvement in the audio reception quality and reliability of signal in the target area. The transmitter is already carrying test transmissions and formal date of commissioning is expected to be announced soon. The transmitter site is in Rajkot, and service is for the western borders of the country.
