25-Seven Program Delay Manager PD-Alert Awarded US Patent
Boston - Apr 2, 2013 - The US Patent and Trademark Office recently recognized the originality of the 25-Seven Program Delay Manager (PDM) by issuing patent 8,352,629. Titled "Media Stream Capture, Modification and Forwarding," the patent covers PDM's PD-Alert feature that provides audio evidence whenever the PDM dump feature is used.
Granted the patent were 25-Seven president Geoff Steadman, along with co-inventors Dan Griscom, Mark Phillips and Edmund "Mack" MacKenty.
"There's no way to monitor every broadcast hour of every day," commented Steadman. "Yet program directors need to be the first to know what happened when an operator uses PDM to prevent inappropriate material from airing. That need is elegantly addressed by PD-Alert."
With PD-Alert, two time-stamped audio files capture what took place both on-air and off-air and are internally archived and emailed to the PD (or GM, or CE, or the legal team) every time the dump button is pressed.
At the 2013 NAB Show, 25-Seven will demonstrate another just-released PDM firmware update. Version 2.3 includes:
■ Enhanced data delay. PDM's data-follow-audio function now permits synchronization from any data input to any data output. For example, serial data from the RS-232 input remains synchronized to the audio at both the serial and IP audio outputs.
■ Multi-view window. From one Web page, operators can view and control multiple PDMs. This is of benefit at network head-ends and stations where multiple units are in operation.
■ Internal updates that improve logging and general performance.
The update to version 2.3 is free to all PDM owners.
