Beasley Names Corso as Engineer of the Year 2009
Naples, FL - Sep 1, 2009 - Beasley Broadcast Group has announced the winners of its annual Company Operating Awards. Each year at the company's annual gathering of general managers Beasley recognizes noteworthy achievements, operating success and contributions from individual Beasley employees and stations over the preceding 12 months. The 2009 honorees include:
George Corso, regional director of engineering for Beasley's Miami and Boca Raton markets, is the recipient of Beasley's Engineer of the Year Award. Corso was recognized for his outstanding management of the relocation of two of the Miami stations as well as his management of the engineering departments of all six stations: WPOW-FM, WKIS-FM and WQAM-AM in Miami, and WWNN-AM, WSBR-AM and WHSR-AM in Boca. He joined Beasley in 1996.
The General Manager of the Year selection is based on the overall operation of the station or stations under his or her management. This year marks the third time Augusta, GA, Market Manager Kent Dunn, a Beasley veteran of 17 years, has received this award. Beasley's nine-station Augusta cluster includes WKXC-FM, WDRR-FM, WHHD-FM, WCHZ-FM, WGUS-FM/WGUS-AM, WGAC-AM/WGAC-FM, and WRDW-AM.
Beasley bestows a Program Director of the Year award in recognition of the important role program directors play in providing creative and compelling content, and consistent ratings leadership. Leo Baldwin, program director for WRDW-FM and WXTU-FM in Philadelphia, was honored for his outstanding performance over the past 12 months. Baldwin joined Beasley Broadcast in 2005.
John Jaras, general sales manager for WPOW-FM Miami, was recognized as Beasley's General Sales Manager of the Year for the second consecutive year. A 21-year veteran with Beasley, Jaras was recognized, once again, for leading his WPOW sales team to obtain year-over-year revenue increases.
Business Manager for Beasley's six Fayetteville stations, Robin Wood was selected Business Manager of the Year for the second time. A Beasley employee since 1997, Wood has demonstrated excellence in all areas of the stations' business operations including financial reporting, accounts receivable and payable management, payroll and human resources for WKML-FM, WFLB-FM, WZFX-FM, WUKS-FM, WAZZ-AM and WTEL-AM.
Wired 96.5 WRDW-FM in Philadelphia was selected as Station of the Year based on its strong growth in ratings and revenue, as well as cash flow performance, excelling under the leadership of Market Manager Natalie Conner, Program Director Leo Baldwin and Sales Manager Rob Keegan.
