Bayern Digital Radio Presents Forum on First 100 Days of German DAB+
Munich - Nov 8, 2011 - Representatives of the German automotive industry and German broadcasters attended a forum called "The digital radio press conference: 100 days the DAB +. More for the car." This event was held to highlight the first 100 days of DAB + in Germany and to further discuss the possibilities of this new media in the automotive industry. The press forum was hosted by Bayern Digital Radio and the National Project Office for Digital Radio.
Dr. Bertram Hock, BMW's Director of development/ broadcast receivers said, "So now that digital radio is developing, I am sure it will soon be available as standard in vehicles throughout Germany." Hock pointed out that all major automobile manufacturers based in Germany (Mercedes, BMW, Audi and VW) already offer DAB+ as an option in their vehicles.
Herbert Tillmann, director production and technology for the Bayerischer Rundfunk is convinced that radio and mobility complement each other. He said, "Terrestrial digital broadcasting offers the possibility to broadcast mass-market radio content and new digital value- added services nationwide at a high quality. Bayerischer Rundfunk has, since October, as part of a pilot project, been transmitting the traffic information service TPEG on its DAB/DAB + networks. TPEG allows a visual representation of digital travel and traffic information in connection with navigation systems."
