Barber Named President/CEO of Inovonics
Felton, CA - May 7, 2012 - Inovonics President/CEO James Wood has promoted Ben Barber to be the company's president/CEO.
"I'm not retiring," says Wood, 70, stating that he will continue to be active in broadcast research, new product development and technical writing. "Ben Barber has essentially been running the business since he was appointed COO in 2007," Wood added, "and it makes more sense for the person most active in day-to-day management to have full executive authority."
Barber joined Inovonics in 1988. He previously worked for an AM radio station in Alaska as an engineer and announcer as part of a mission for his church. He hails from the Red Bluff area of Northern California. Jim Wood hired him as a test and R&D tech, and he quickly proved his skill during the design phases of some of the company's most popular products.
Wood will remain chairman of the board of directors of Inovonics and will assume the title of founder.
This announcement follows the broadcast equipment firm's celebration of 40 years of continuous operation under the same ownership and management.
