AWRT Announces Brennan Resignation, Strobel Interim President and Blackburn Chair
McLean , VA - Oct 7, 2009 - American Women in Radio & Television (AWRT) announces the departure of Maria E. Brennan, CAE, president, who has been with AWRT since 1998. Brennan leaves to become president and CEO of Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT).
Sylvia Strobel, senior partner in the entertainment law firm Lehmann Strobel PLC, has been named AWRT interim president to ensure a smooth transition for day-to-day operations and to lead the search for a permanent replacement. Strobel has served as an attorney and business advisor to the entertainment community for more than 18 years. Most recently she served as president and general manager of The Pennsylvania Public Television Network. Her non-profit experience includes serving as chair for AWRT and treasurer for the Pennsylvania Women's Campaign Fund. She is also a member of the Radio and Television Digital News Association and the National Press Club.
Valerie Blackburn, market controller for CBS Radio/Los Angeles, assumes Strobel's role on the AWRT National Board as Chair.
