ARD, ADAC Team on TPEG Over DAB+ for Real-time Traffic Data
Mar 13, 2012 - Just last week we told you that Fraunhofer First and Frontier Silicon are cooperating on the development of components to facilitate the reception of TPEG services via digital broadcasting (DAB+). Now we've learned from Teltarif that German Public Broadcaster ARD and the German automobile club ADAC are introducing a new service using the TPEG standard. With traffic data gathered from traffic monitors, 150,000 commercial vehicles that report their positions constantly, and smartphones, ARD can detect traffic jams in real-time, and subsequently broadcast that information via their DAB+ facilities.
