All India Radio Digital Broadcasts are Major Topic at 18th BES
New Delhi - Feb 13, 2012 - The 18th Annual Broadcast Engineering Society of India (BES) international conference and exhibition concluded today. A major topic of discussion at the show was All India Radio's (AIR) current digitalization program. According to AIR's Additional Director General Mr Yogendra Pal, two 1MW MW transmitters at Rajkot and Kolkata are likely to be operational by March 2012 and an additional 72 DRM transmitters would be commissioned between June of this year and of March 2013.
The ongoing rollout by AIR has gained the interest of receiver manufacturers who were present at the event with their products. DRM member companies Nautel, RFmondial,Digidia, Fraunhofer, Harris and Thomson attended the BES conference this year.
