The sights of the 119th AES Convention captured by the staff and contributors of Radio magazine.
The 119th Audio Engineering Society Convention will take place at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City from Oct. 7 through Oct. 10, 2005.
The convention program includes several noteworthy events, including several sessions devoted to broadcast technology. Other sessions and workshops will cover surround sound, audio networking and more.
The convention keynote speaker will be Rupert Neve. His speech will focus on recording.
Neve began his audio career in Argentina, reparing radios to bring people news of WWII. Moving to England at 17, he converted a retired U.S. Army ambulance into a mobile studio to record choirs, music festivals and public events on 78 RPM lacquer disks. These early steps led to his pioneering development of the modern recording console.
The show floor will be open from noon to 6 p.m. on Oct. 7, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 8 and 9, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 10.
