NAB2005 Photo Blog - April 17

The Public Radio Engineering Conference was held on Friday and Saturday. In this session on Saturday morning, Grady Moates discusses the WUMB tests using Ibiquity's HD Radio technology to transmit signals via satellite to WUMB's repeaters.
On Saturday, Broadcast Electronics held another of its HD Radio seminars. BE's Richard Hinkle provided one of the presentations to the more than 120 people who attended.
The SBE provided the Ennes Workshop on Saturday, which drew more than 500 people. Because of the record crowd, the NAB opened the adjacent room to accomodate the large crowd.
The Sunday afternoon session in the Broadcast Engineering Conference was titled HD Radio Technology. Anders Mattsson of Harris delivers the paper called Linearizing HD Radio Transmitters - a Technology Survey.
Steve Fluker, director of engineering for Cox Orlando, who is also a regular contributor to Radio magazine, provided details about the split-level combining method of transmitting IBOC. He is the inventor of the technology.
Norm Philips of Susquehanna Radio comoderated the HD Radio Technology session with Radio magazine editor Chriss Scherer.
Canada's KLZ Innovations and England's Broadcast Bionics are building their shared booth on the day before the exhibits open.

Radio magazine editor Chriss Scherer was asked to draw one of the winners during the Broadcast Electronics HD Radio seminar. Bob Gagne, director of engineering for Hubbard Radio, and Patrick Ayivor, head of engineering for Multimedia Broadcasting each won a Boston Acoustics Recepter HD Radio receiver.
