2009 NAB Show to Attract Attendees from more than 160 Countries
Washington, DC -- Nearly one in four attendees at this year's NAB Show, April 18-23 in Las Vegas, is expected to come from outside the U.S., demonstrating the global scale and scope of the NAB Show, convention organizers announced today.
Some of these international attendees will be part of more than 70 international groups, organized by 51 different delegation leaders. Four delegations (representing Bulgaria, Greece, Morocco and Norway) are coming to the show for the first time. In addition, as many as nine countries are sending top-level government officials representing broadcasting and allied industry sectors. These Ministers of Communications will bring business leaders from their respective countries including Taiwan, Columbia, Brazil, India, Philippines, New Zealand, Cambodia, Kenya and Russia.
Among the more than 1,500 companies exhibiting at the NAB Show, more than 500 are headquartered outside the U.S. Some of these companies will be showcased within the largest representation of international pavilions in the show's history. International pavilions include Bavaria, Belgium, Brazil, India, Italy and the United Kingdom. France and Korea will also have a presence on the show floor with dedicated pavilions for the first time in recent years.
In addition, the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT), a telecommunications research organization in Japan, will demonstrate advanced imaging and sound technologies being developed in their labs.
More than 28,000 electronic media professionals representing 166 countries traveled from outside the U.S. to attend the 2008 NAB Show, representing more than 25 percent of overall attendance.
The NAB Show has been recognized time and again by the U.S. Department of Commerce as the most critical business-to-business international industry event in which to participate in any hemisphere and was presented with the "Highest Global Participation" award from Trade Show Executive magazine in 2008.
Visionary Malcolm Gladwell to Present Keynote at Nab Show
Washington, DC - Malcolm Gladwell, bestselling author of The Tipping Point, Blink, and Outliers, will present a morning keynote discussion with NAB President and CEO David K. Rehr at the 2009 NAB Show on Wednesday, April 22 in Las Vegas. Galdwell, who was named one of Time Magazine's Most Influential People in 2005, will also engage in an interactive dialog with audience members during the thought-provoking discussion entitled, "A Conversation With Malcom Gladwell."
"I am honored and delighted to be part of the NAB Show, and look forward to talking with attendees about the incredible opportunities for collaborative innovation and leadership in content and broadcasting," Gladwell said. "This is a very disruptive and challenging time in the industry, but I hope to share some interesting stories about people who are 'Outliers' - those who have taken unusual life experiences and worked collectively to seize opportunities and build success by challenge the status quo during uncertain times."
Gladwell has an incomparable gift for interpreting new ideas in the social sciences and making them understandable, practical and valuable to business and general audiences alike. He is the author of three New York Times no. 1 bestsellers, and one of the leading social scientists in the world. Gladwell is a staff writer for The New Yorker magazine and has been nominated for a National Magazine Award.

Where The Tipping Point gave us new tools for understanding trends, Blink has deepened our understanding of the human mind and how we make decisions. Gladwell's most recent book, Outliers: Why Some People Succeed and Some Don't, also debut as a bestseller and promises to have an even greater impact on business and society by pointing us toward the real factors that foster success.
Gladwell will host a keynote luncheon session on Wednesday, April 22nd at the Las Vegas Hilton.

The 20' VB Mobile Studio includes a control room, vocal booth and a performance space. This studio is housed in a large trailer that can be hauled behind any tour bus or heavy duty pickup truck. Designed for recording and mastering applications, the MEA-2 is a stereo or two-channel, four-band analog equalizer with stepped Q/shelf, frequency and cut/boost controls on each band. The new MEA-2 features faster amplifiers with wider bandwidth and improved low-frequency EQ filters. The individual EQ sections are now completely switched off when the gain controls are set to 0dB and the unit goes into full bypass when the power is switched off. The new output amplifiers have improved high frequency performance.
