Applications Being Accepted for Market-ready Startups for Sprockit 2014
Washington, DC - Oct 9, 2013 - The NAB Show and World Series of Start-Ups are accepting applications from startup companies to participate in Sprockit 2014, a program that showcases elite emerging companies in media and entertainment and introduces them to industry influencers and decision-makers. Sprockit is a year-round program that will kick off at the 2014 NAB Show, to be held April 5-10 in Las Vegas.
Returning to the NAB Show for the second consecutive year, Sprockit 2014 will triple in size and select up to 30 startups to participate in the weeklong series of events. Created to give entrepreneurs broad exposure through NAB Show, the selected startup companies will have intimate access to top executives in media and entertainment, the opportunity to pre-schedule private meetings with industry influencers, and time to present their product or service to potential customers, partners and/or investors.
Following the NAB Show, Sprockit companies and select industry leaders will collaborate throughout the year in Sprockit Sync, an exclusive media and entertainment community focused on bringing the most innovative products, services and revenue models to market. Members of Sprockit Sync will meet for three day-long meetings in Los Angeles in July 2014, New York in October 2014 and Silicon Valley in January 2015, while conversations continue all year long through its private virtual network.
"Sprockit takes the most innovative, market-ready startups and provides front-and-center visibility and fosters relationships with industry icons," said Harry M. Glazer, founder and CEO of World Series of Start-Ups and the creator and co-producer of Sprockit. "This year's program is no exception. With the new open application process, we're giving more innovators the opportunity to change the future and join an esteemed group of Sprockit alumni and industry-leading partners."
"I truly believe that Sprockit can be a transformational hub for the industry," said Sprockit 2013 alumni, Sue Fennessy, founder and CEO of Standard Media Index. "With so much clutter and noise in both the media and technology sectors, it is critical to have an unbiased central zone that can highlight and nurture businesses that will shape our future."
"At Univision, driving innovation is one of our key priorities," said Kevin Cuddihy, president, Univision Television Group. "We have seen the impact Sprockit has had in only one year, and we are proud to be one of the founding corporate members as Sprockit 2014 gets underway."
Created in partnership with World Series of Startups and the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), Sprockit is supported by Springboard Enterprises, New Vantage Group, and leading corporations and industry trade associations.
To become part of the Sprockit 2014, a company must have market validation and must prove the potential to significantly affect the media and entertainment industry. Interested companies must submit an online application by Nov. 22, 2013. Priority is given to those who apply before Oct. 22, 2013. Up to 30 selected companies will be invited to participate in Sprockit at the 2014 NAB Show and Sprockit Sync meetings.
